Casa Familia Emergency Shelter for Women and Families
Casa Familia provides emergency shelter for single women and families with children. The site has 16 beds available for single women and 6 private rooms for families.
On-site services include communal meals, showers, laundry, mail services, clothing, and hygiene kits. Supplies for children and adults are also available.
Case management, social security and other benefits support, and counseling are included.


By supporting our mission you assist our clients find employment, obtain healthcare, seek counseling, enroll in treatment programs and move into housing – our ultimate goal. Last year, 52 percent of the men, women and children in our five residential programs successfully did so. It’s a tribute to the hard work and efforts of our clients and their case managers.

WINTER WISH LIST
- Clothing – Women’s underwear, socks, warm jackets, rain wear, hand warmers, shoes, weather-appropriate boots; girl’s/boy’s clothing, school uniforms.
- Personal Hygiene: Hand sanitizer, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, feminine hygiene products, disposable razors (female), toothbrushes, toothpaste, band aids, hair brushes, foot powder, body soap, nail polisher & clippers, nail files, deodorant (women’s) alka-seltzer cold®, pepto-bismol®, over-the-counter medication (ibuprofen), baby wipes, baby powder, make up.
- Food: Non-perishable food, bottled water, juice, coffee & tea, spices, $25 gift cards for Walmart, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Subway, Plaza Café, etc.
- Other: Blankets, sleeping bags, tents, bed sheets (twin), diapers (all sizes, particularly 2-5), cleaning supplies, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, Qtips, cotton balls, laundry detergent, latex-free gloves, kitchen utensils, can openers, plastic plates, silverware, kitchen pots & pans, water bottles, shower shoes, AA/9-volt & AAA batteries, backpacks (adult & children), ear plugs, headphones, bus passes (Santa Fe Trails one-day, round trip or monthly), passes for community activities (eg. Chavez Center or Children’s Museum), standard tools for home repair, microwaves, mini-fridges.
- Volunteers: Front-desk receptionists from 4- to 8-hour blocks of time once a week, cooks for dinner any night.

- Clothing: Women’s new underwear, socks, long-sleeve shirts, shoes, rain gear, umbrellas, sun hats.
- Personal Hygiene: Shampoo, conditioner, disposable razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair brushes, foot powder, body soap, nail clippers, nail files, deodorant, sun screen, cough drops, cotton balls and Q-tips, Emergen Vitamin C®, face wash and moisturizer, body wash, allergy meds Zrytex and Claritan.
- Food: Fresh fruits & vegetables, bottled water, coffee and creamer.
- Other: Bus passes, movie passes, diapers (all sizes, particularly 4-6), baby wipes, twin size sheets, towels, latex-free gloves, kitchen utensils, pots & pans, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, shower shoes, AA/AAA/9-volt batteries, laundry detergent, painting supplies (roller covers, brushes tape), birdseed for feeders, sleeping bags and tents.
- Tools: Hose wheel for outdoor hose, Propane grill propane for barbeque.
- Household Items: Cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, dish soap, dish towels.

- Volunteers: Cooks for dinner.
